In french the negative sentence is being made by adding "ne" before the verb and "pas" after the verb. eg> je suis étudiant(i am a student) The negative becomes: je ne suis pas étudiant.(I am not a student) However if the verb between "ne" and "pas" is vowel then the negation become "n'"before the verb and pas after the verb.
eg>j'ai une voiture(jay yune vothyure)
I have a car.
The negative becomes: Je n'ai pas de voiture.(ja nay pa the vothyure)
I donot have any car.
Here the "de" represents "any" in this case. If we use "Je n'ai pas une voiture.(ja nay pa yune vothyure)" then if represent "I don't have a car" that means I have more than one care..may be two,there or even more.
